Bed linen made from TENCEL™ Lyocell combines a cool, silky feel with an origin in wood fibres. This guide explains what sets Lyocell apart from other fibres, how it is produced and who it is particularly suitable for.
What is TENCEL™ Lyocell?
TENCEL™ is the brand name for Lyocell fibres, which are made from wood. According to Lenzing, the manufacturer of TENCEL™ fibres, the fibres are made in a closed-loop process in which almost all of the solvent is recovered and reused.
Moisture-regulating and breathable
Lyocell fibres absorb moisture particularly quickly and wick it away just as rapidly. This makes Tencel bed linen a good choice for anyone who tends to sweat at night or prefers a dry, cool sleeping environment.
Twill or sateen: choosing the right weave
Our Coco & Cici Tencel bed linen is available in two weaves: twill, with a soft, matt surface and a fine diagonal structure, and sateen, with a smoother, slightly lustrous finish. Both are woven from the same TENCEL™ Lyocell fibre and differ primarily in their feel and appearance.
How TENCEL™ Lyocell is made
According to Lenzing, chemicals and water largely remain within the system in TENCEL™’s closed-loop production cycle.
Caring for Tencel bed linen
Wash Tencel bed linen gently at a medium temperature and avoid high heat when drying to preserve the fabric’s characteristic softness and drape.
